"As teachers, too often we focus most of our efforts on having an awareness of our learners. Vanessa made us realize that having an awareness of yourself as a teacher is vitally important for the student’s success, as well. Vanessa was very engaging during the entire faculty in-service. She kept the faculty engaged with her personality and her knowledge. Explaining the 5 awarenesses of an expert teaching brain to us helped teachers turn within to consider their own awareness that they bring to each situation and learning experience. It was inspiring to think that master teachers consider these awarenesses most of the time and that it can become more instinctive. We were challenged to attain this mastery!"

“Vanessa’s approach is effective.  It is affirming to see how her research supports a more dynamic understanding for the educational process.  Hers is a particularly applicable understanding for framing our work in the community college context where the desired outcomes are not necessarily in line with conventional views of college education.”

“Great!  I was able to learn and identify some of my strengths and weaknesses.  Thank you.”

“Presenter was very good, knew her topic.  Exercises were thoughtful and useful.”

“Speaker was very engaging.  Useful information. Great PD!”

“Very interesting and unique approach to defining teaching!”
